Adam Katsoukis is a confident and bold painter. Born in Athens in1974, he moves to Florence and other European cities where he completes in-depth studies in Fine Arts. Working with pencil and oil, he creates portraits, landscapes and still life works, attempting to capture aspects that enlighten the mental outlook rather than depict an exterior image, organizing an attractive itinerary through emotional expressions that are recalled and recovered from memory. The artist's paintings depict and echo in every brushstroke his need to explore and interpret a deeper meaning. If viewed through a classical perspective - a consequence of the artist's studies as well as of the images of his memory - a reference to Byzantine mysticism and the light of Greece, Katsoukis' work is seen to record everyday life with exceptional emotional skill. Even when the subjects are taken from life, the work seems to present itself not as a document of the representation of light, but of the remembrance of light.
